Nobody is more egg-cited than us to ring in the new year!

Perhaps you're wanting to start the new year on the right foot, so you're heading out for a super healthy and delicious breakfast with eggs ...then again maybe you're looking for the perfect pick-me-up (think: eggs & bacon). Either way, eggs are the perfect first meal for your new year and so we've collated a list of a few cafes open on New Year's Day for the most important meal of the day.

Brisbane

Huskk Cafe

www.huskkcafe.com.au

This well-loved local caters to all your egg-loving needs - from the humble dippy eggs & soldiers, to the more refined palette wanting to try the tiger prawn omelette with crab bisque, asparagus, fennel and croutons, Huskk has you covered.

Adelaide

Local Grind

www.localgrind.com.au

At this rustic Adelaide local, you can expect to find plenty of poached eggs on their all day dining menu. Why not try their miso roasted cauliflower, fennel, hummus, orange, radicchio, baby beetroot, garden peas, hazelnut, radish with poached eggs; or perhaps the smashed avo on sourdough with sunflower seeds, lemon, breakfast radish, dukkah, snowpea shoots and of course poached eggs is more to your liking.

Oar Lakeside

www.oarlakeside.com.au

These guys have won "Best Breakfast Restaurant in Australia" more than once, and if their photos are anything to go by - the food is GOOD. You've really got your pick of eggs for brekky at this place with eggs taking centre stage in all nine of their brekky options! You might want blue swimmer crab scrambled eggs or perhaps a poached egg with your zucchini, corn and haloumi fritters - it all sounds delicious to us.

Open 9am - 3pm NYD

Perth

Duck Duck Bruce

www.duckduckbruce.com.au

Known for their aubergine dish, which just so happens to be topped with delicious fried eggs, apparently they have been "hugged, high fived and proposed to after people have eaten it" so it sounds like just the brekky to choose if you're wanting to start the year off on the right foot.

Sydney

Lox Stock & Barrel

www.loxstockandbarrel.com.au

This classic European style deli diner in Sydney's eastern suburb of Bondi has plenty of eggs on the menu. But our favourite has to be the 'Bowlarama' which has poached eggs served with a bunch of other delicious and very healthy foods (think kale, quinoa and seaweed). If you're looking for a healthy start to the year, this is definitely it!
