Farm Visitor Requirements

Farm Visitor Requirements

Restricting entry to the farm or biosecurity zones within the farm is fundamentally important for property security and farm biosecurity.

Documents to assist in managing visitor access to the farm are available:

  • Farm Entry Sign: as required on farm entrances in some states.
  • Template Visitor Log: printable PDF and word doc visitor log pages.

Best Practice Visitor Entry to Farms and Production Zones

The steps below should be followed by all visitors to the farm.

  1. Visitors require farm management consent prior to entry
  2. Visiting vehicles entering the farm should have their wheel and wheel wells washed on entry AND exit
  3. Visitors to report straight to the farm office and fill in the visitor logbook
  4. Visitors should not proceed through the farm if they:
    • Have visited another poultry site in the past 72 hours
    • Have suffered gastroenteritis symptoms in the past 7 days
    • Own poultry or pet birds
  5. On the farm, visitors should wear clean clothing, protective coveralls and boot covers
  6. Everyone, including visitors should use foot-baths when entering the production area
  7. Where possible, visitors should only visit necessary areas, and shouldn't handle anything unnecessarily
