This project successfully produced the components needed to develop a remote monitoring system for laying hens. Further research is being done develop the system to the farm-ready stage.
In this proof of concept study, researchers used artificial intelligence and machine learning to create a system which can recognise various hen behaviours, based on real-time video footage.
