This project aims to develop a single-shot, slow-release vaccine delivery system using hydrogel technology. It will investigate the best vaccine release pattern from hydrogel implants (extended “burst” verses multiple “pulses”) to induce immunity. The research will also determine the optimal age for administering hydrogel-based vaccines and assess their safety, efficacy, and protective immunity in pen trials. This system aims to deliver multiple vaccines in one injection resulting in reduced bird handling, long-lasting immunity, improved animal welfare and biosecurity.
