This project looks at greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from all major layer manure management options, not just composting, to help the industry identify practical and cost-effective solutions.
The project will evaluate emissions across different manure management pathways, review current knowledge to identify key gaps, develop a database of manure-related materials and products, and create an emissions calculator for egg producers. The calculator will be tested using real farm examples and demonstrated through an industry case study to ensure it is practical, accurate and easy to use. Egg producers will have access to practical information and a simple tool to better understand the emissions associated with different manure management options and support informed decision-making.
