Monitoring hen health with machine vision on free range farms

This project will develop a proof-of-concept machine vision system with the capability to detect abnormal flock appearance and behaviour,  that would indicate poor animal health or welfare.

Automated cameras set up at pop-holes will be used to detect and categorise prevalence of laying hens exhibiting abnormal health conditions, to generate alerts for the farmer about flock appearance and behaviour that potentially warrants follow up veterinary inspection.
